My Favourite Things (a Poem)

A new take on an old refrain.

Fries with malt vinegar and covered in salt
Cold beer when it's hot or a big chocolate malt
Thick veggie burgers and greasy onion rings
These are a few of my favourite things

Music that rocks, is loud, and is gritty
Or a beautiful ballad that's slow and really quite pretty
When Paul Hewson, Paul Heaton, or Paul Weller sings
These are a few of my favourite things

The meek rising up all over the world
When the banner of justice is finally unfurled
Toppling the tyrants and dethroning the kings
These are a few of my favourite things

Working the garden or riding a bike
Reading in bed with a book that I like
Asleep on a hammock a gentle breeze swings
These are a few of my favourite things

A blast from the point or a really good fight
Turn on the TV, it's Saturday night
The Leafs always lose and that kind of stings
But these are a few of my favourite things
