Toronto 2015 CEO Ian Troop just issued a press statement announcing that Milton Education Village is now in consideration as the site for the Pan American Games velodrome. The Town of Milton still has to commit to the plan by January 24, 2012.
According to Brian Findlay, a spokesperson for TO2015, no further details are available yet about what the Milton velodrome plan will entail.
Following is Troop's full statement:
TO2015 is pleased to announce that Milton Education Village is now being considered as the selected site for the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games velodrome.
The Organizing Committee officially confirmed the Town of Milton site today, December 15, 2011. This confirmation is conditional upon receiving a binding agreement from the Town on or before January 24, 2012.
TO2015 looks forward to working with city officials over the next few weeks to help finalize the operating program for the velodrome to ensure a world-class cycling hub for Milton, the province and eastern Canada. We are pleased the Town and its community members, including the generous participation of Mattamy Homes' founder Peter Gilgan, have embraced the value of this legacy venue.
