Werner Gets it Right

Extra, extra, read all about it!

This week's Brabant News has a great column by (ahem) Kevin Werner. No, I'm not referring to the one where he praises the city's idea to synchronize more stoplights so more of us pedestrians can get killed, but an article highlighting some of the horrendous attitudes that can be found in Hamilton's segregated suburbs.

Despite the fact hate crimes are down from a year ago, there remains, especially in the suburban areas, a homogenized attitude that has erected iron barriers, preventing anything or anyone that is different from entering.

I don't keep close watch, but can safely tell you that I honestly don't recall the last time I read a piece in the Brabant papers by their flagship columnist that I agreed with. For those of you who don't bother reading their papers any more, I just had to offer you the chance to read this piece.

Jason Leach was born and raised in the Hammer and currently lives downtown with his wife and children. You can follow him on twitter.

Hey Jay, The reason pedestrians get killed on streets with synchronized lights is because of two main reasons, they don't cross WHEN they're supposed to and the don't cross WHERE they're supposed to. Peds should really learn to use cross walks and only cross when the little man is up...not when the hand is flashing.
