Today's Toronto Star reports a novel idea proposed by Dr. David McKeown, Toronto's medical officer of health:
"Toronto's air is dangerous to our health and to clean it up local businesses should be forced to disclose what they spew," he suggests.
So simple, and yet so potentially effective. Hamilton should take note.
The recommendation should get the nod from the City's Board of Health Monday, and wind its way to the council table sometime next spring.
The City will not, however, be able to act on any of the disclosures. That's the responsibility of the province.
Still, knowing what's out there, and who spewed it, is a great way for us to start cleaning up our air.
