Take a deep breath before insulting someone.

There are several facts about this report:

  1. It is not a scientific report.
  2. It is put together by people with a vested interest in making the outcome of the report seem as negative as possible.
  3. There are NO hard numbers. The terms about and approximately are used quite often. For example, they seemingly arbitrarily pick 50% of the airborne pollutants being from motor vehicles. That's a very alarming, yet round and convenient number, don't you think?
  4. I don't know if you noticed this, but they also say that approximately 50% (again, a round, convenient number) of the traffic affecting Hamilton is transient and we have no control over its impact. Things like trucks, industry, rail, and shipping are all included. If we remove that 50%, we are left with 46.5 fatalities.
  5. What portion of people with ailments such as lung cancer related from smoking, rather than external factors are considered in their 186 premature deaths each year?

The simple fact of the matter is, in a city of 519,950 (2011) people, even 96 fatalities represents only 0.0184% of the population. That means the average person would have to live to be 5,434 years old to die from the air pollution in the city. Think about that for a minute.

That's the nice thing about data; it can be manipulated very easily to meet the presenters motive. Yet again, you've failed to address the fact that this report relies on assumptions and conjecture.

Now to answer your last question, Chicken Little, yes it is pretty good to be me.
