When riding on Cannon, I quickly got in the habit of looking over my shoulder and making eye contact with the driver in the next lane when approaching an intersection. So far I've only had one close call, and it was when riding eastbound between Bay and Park: a driver was pulling out of the parking lot and I could see that she was only looking to the right. I slowed down, and sure enough, the driver pulled out right in front of me. I just managed to stop short of her bumper and she shot me a dirty look - as if I was in the wrong. Sigh.

Culture change follows infrastructure change, but it sometimes takes time. I've noticed that drivers on Hunter Street now consistently stop behind the white stop line on that street's bike boxes. For the first few weeks, most drivers were blowing through them and blocking the bike boxes.
