I didn't read this before I posted on the other thread but after reading I'll add some comments. The top of the Claremont has very fast traffic even though the 50km/hrs zone was moved down. We have requested they put overhead speed signs up like they have in other locations but so far nothing. When our children went to Queensdale they had to cross Upper James & at that time the trucks from the Erie works were still using Upper James. My wife organized a petition to have a light put at Inverness & it was refused as they claimed up bound trucks couldn't stop on the access. They installed the pedestrian light at Duff Street instead, so I would be surprised if they would put one in now. The barriers you referred to on the connecting access for the Claremont to West 5th are permanent, that is why I suggested Jersey curbs or something like they used on Cannon St. The curb lane on Upper James is in bad shape & I would hesitate to use it as a bike lane, even if the lanes were narrowed, and I'm not sure how the trucks that still use it would fit. That is why I suggested West 5th. Inverness East is not that busy so I don't see why it would not work, it is also easy to connect to Concession or Queensdale. These all work well. Inverness West is seldom busy unless the West 5th access is backed up which sometimes happens due to the bottleneck at the bottom. I see no reason it couldn't work as is, same with Arcade & Gateview. The entire Auchmar property is a Heritage site and has numerous easements, so getting anything through it would be difficult.
