The drop in people living in low income in Hamilton refers to changes that occurred between the 2001 and 2006 Census. Numbers will no doubt have risen again since then.

HRPR cannot take credit for these changes (and doesn't purport to do so), but Mark Chamberlain certainly helped put poverty on the agenda in Hamilton as well as at the provincial level. In my view, HRPR's [action priorities] for the next few years (http://www.hamiltonpoverty.ca/docs/news_and_reports/hrpr-action-plan-2010-2013.pdf) are pretty ambitious, but exciting. Now that the awareness is there, they can try to achieve more concrete outcomes.
