Wasn't there a post on here a while back going on about how great Tokyo is? Well this:

It were feasible to increase the availability of infrastructure for other modes without reducing the availability of infrastructure for cars

Has been accomplished in Tokyo. In fact, Tokyo is also an example of what the first poster said... the city tries to make all forms of transportation functional and all forms of transportation are supported in different ways. There are absolutely massive roads in Tokyo, urban expressways by any good RTH poster's definitions.

In some places as a pedestrian you are literally encouraged to walk above the intersections on raised pedestrian walk ways. You can use the elevator if you're in a wheel chair. In some places they also have very large sidewalks which are often designed to be shared with bicycles.

They have trains, subways, buses, taxis, cars, bicycles, pedestrians, you name it. All forms of transportation are supported. Perhaps not equally but they are. Perhaps I will do a photo essay for you when I get the chance Ryan.

So let's all take a step back from our "disingenuous" comments and try to have a reasonable and real discussion about a very important issue.
