and if the committee charged with recommending the project to the City recommended against it

What is this nonsense? The extensive feasibility study the city did on 2008 strongly recommended LRT and conducted an extremely broad based public engagement. The transportation planning consultants the city worked with after the feasibility study was approved also strongly recommended going ahead with LRT, and they also recommended converting Main and King to two-way. Metrolinx did a comprehensive benefits case analysis that supported LRT, as well as recommending that Main and King be converted to two-way. Last year, the McMaster Institute of Transportation and Logistics produced a detailed study that recommended LRT, as well as converting Main and King to two-way. Earlier this year the City completed its LRT plan and submitted it to the province, who have since announced they will pay for it once their investment strategy is approved.

Please note that I don't expect any of this to change your mind. I just don't want your trolling to mislead any other readers who don't know the history of this important initiative.
