I occasionally write for Urbanicity. In January, Urbanicity editor Martinus Geleynse contacted Nicholas Kevlahan and me and asked if we would be willing to write an article making an argument for Hamilton's LRT plan, which we were happy to do.

The problem is not so much Urbanicity or the Spectator publishing anti-LRT articles (though there's a good discussion to be had about how best to balance a diversity of opinion with a commitment not to publish nonsense) as it is the radio silence from our leaders and city staff on Hamilton's plan and the years of research, analysis and design thst have already been completed.

Someone needs to step forward and continue the job of to explaining, promoting, clarifying, allaying fears, strengthening consensus and making sure Queen's Park knows they can't ignore us. If we're not doing that, a project of this complexity and magnitude will have great difficulty overcoming the myriad political challenges it faces.

Engaged citizens can't do that on our own. We also need our elected leaders to lead.
