No one thing can solve every single problem. Only a tiny fraction of Hamiltonians actually commute to Toronto, which is the most feasible destination city for a GO Train commuter given Toronto's comparatively excellent local transit.

Given that ridership on a B-Line LRT would be in the middle of the pack for North American LRT systems on opening day, it is very clear that it will solve a lot of transportation problems for people commuting within Hamilton while at the same time significantly increasing the density and quality of land use in the half-kilometre of so on either side of the line - a stretch of the city that is crying out for better land use.
