Word on the Street

Understanding Open Public Data

  • Date: Wednesday, April 27, 2011
  • Time: 6:00 PM
  • Location: London Tap House, basement lounge
  • Address: 31 John Street South (at Main), Hamilton, Ontario (Google Maps)
  • Contact: CIPS Golden Horseshoe
  • Email: GHinfo@cips.ca

Update: This event has been rescheduled to April 27 after the cancellation of the original March date due to inclement weather.

Ryan McGreal, editor of Raise the Hammer, is giving a talk on open public data as part of the CIPS Golden Horseshoe monthly lecture series.

Open public data is publicly available information that is also findable, accessible, machine-readable, and sharable. Liberated from proprietary and read-only formats, open public data allows citizens to understand their government better, make more informed decisions, build useful public services, and even realize entrepreneurial opportunities.

The lounge opens at 6:00 PM, and the talk starts at 6:45.

This talk is free to CIPS Golden Horseshoe members or $10 to non-members.

Space is limited, so please reserve a seat if you plan to attend.
