This image is taken from the city's Vision 2020 website. Let's see: new highways ringing the city; new escarpment crossings (has anyone ever driven less than 100km an hour on the Claremont Access?); new "infrastructure" - in other words, more highways and wider suburban roads.

Seems more like Vision 1920.

It's nice to know that in the 21st Century with North American cities of all sizes working hard at developing a more 'European' feel to their cities, Hamilton is standing pat, refusing to step into the future and bring any new life or vision to our city.

There very well might not be a more visionless, futureless city on the planet (in the developed world) than ours. This little map is one more indication of that fact and should serve as a wake-up call to all residents who were actually hoping to see Hamilton turn the corner.

Oh, by the way, that little pink square is downtown Hamilton. Perhaps it is meant to symbolize a part of town they wish to ignore, or perhaps all the little coloured squares are areas that the city expects to decline and decay as they continue with their suburban sprawl routine.

Who am I kidding? They aren't thinking that far ahead. Just to the next election and the cool cash they can expect to receive from Mr. Developer.
