Unfortunately, the LRT project has once again become a political football in the upcoming municipal election.

In response, a broad coalition of LRT supporters including Hamilton Light Rail has come together with a new campaign called #yesLRT to make sure this project stays on the rails through the upcoming municipal election.

LRT is not just an investment in new transportation and municipal infrastructure. It's also an investment in a brighter future.

Our city will work better for everyone.

Every city that has built an LRT system – and there are more than 400 around the world – has gone through the exact same angst that Hamilton is going through right now. Change is scary, and it’s hard to imagine the city looking and working differently than it does today.

Some politicians are trying to capitalize on fear of change to stop this transformative project from going ahead with a campaign of fearmongering and misinformation.

We need to make sure they don't succeed.

Please share the #yesLRT website with your friends and contacts and encourage them to learn the facts.

Also, please consider making a donation to #yesLRT to help pay for the campaign, including advertising, videos, social media content & handout materials to help combat the noise of misinformation being spread.

This opportunity for Hamilton is too important to allow narrow political interests to derail it. The Province has repeatedly affirmed that they will honour the full LRT funding commitment. All we have to do is stay the course - the hard work of building a case, planning the line and advocating for a funding commitment is already complete.

The Province has clarified that if we cancel the project, we will need to develop a new transit infrastructure plan and submit it for approval. We would lose more than a decade already spent getting to this point, spend several more years developing a new plan, without even knowing if our new project would be approved.

We can't afford to trade a guaranteed billion dollar investment for a cheap slogan.

We need your help. Please do what you can to help spread the word about why we need LRT. Don't let the naysayers have the last word!

Some politicians are trying to capitalize on fear of change.

Alas, the Marxist analysis of our current situation in Hamilton is all too true. See:
