Why We Act, Part II

It's time sensible people made the decisions.

We act because there is nothing as precious as a warm body in our arms.

Food, warmth and shelter. A good hug and a lasting embrace. It's all people really need.

When you look at it that way, it all seems so simple. What everyone really needs is easily within reach. Why is it so hard to grasp?

The man who makes the nuclear weapons or who orders the torture must not appreciate the simplicity of warmth in another's arms. A snuggly body in pajamas means less to him than the latest plan.

The people who are running the show don't have their priorities straight. All we really want is peace, quiet, a full belly and a clear conscience. A place for our young ones to grow up and for us to grow old, happy, wrinkly and satisfied.

That's why we act: because we appreciate the simple things in life, which are also the most important things in life - and because we appreciate life itself.

Let us do the talking for a change.
