A climber always inching higher
A fighter on his way fire

A burglar who’s about to steal
An athlete on a highlight reel

A boxer fighting in the ring
A songstress who’s about to sing

Gretzky on a breakaway
A teenager with folks away

An actor as she takes the stage
A writer filling up the page

As if each moment is the last
The end, indeed, is closing fast

Kevin Somers is the author of a satire, I'm Gretzky, You're Gretzky (find it here). He is the editor of The Hobo Line, a magazine by and for Fred Heads. He also writes about fashion for The Women's Post.
