Complete Streets on Vital Signs TV

By Ryan McGreal
Published December 21, 2012

Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of talking about complete, walkable streets, land use planning and light rail transit with Hamilton Chamber of Commerce CEO David Adames on Vital Signs, a monthly Cable 14 program hosted by Terry Cooke, CEO of Hamilton Community Foundation.

Ryan McGreal, the editor of Raise the Hammer, lives in Hamilton with his family and works as a programmer, writer and consultant. Ryan volunteers with Hamilton Light Rail, a citizen group dedicated to bringing light rail transit to Hamilton. Ryan wrote a city affairs column in Hamilton Magazine, and several of his articles have been published in the Hamilton Spectator. His articles have also been published in The Walrus, HuffPost and Behind the Numbers. He maintains a personal website, has been known to share passing thoughts on Twitter and Facebook, and posts the occasional cat photo on Instagram.

Congratulations for getting on local access TV and a YouTube clip with a whopping 58 views (probably about the same number who saw it when it aired). Please keep patting yourself on the back with shameless self-promotion.

Interesting conversation, though I continue to find the official amnesia around the "funding conversation" to be aggravating and baffling.

The Chamber is awaiting word from Metrolinx and in contact with Civic Action and yet both Civic Action and Metrolinx have understood the tools available to them for years.

CivicAction:
"Time to Get Serious: Reliable Funding for GTHA Transit/Transportation Infrastructure" (January 2010)

Metrolinx:
"Investment Strategy Update" (June 2008)
