Hamilton Police are looking for a witness to the fatal hit-and-run that took place on Monday, September 30, 2013, 2:00 PM at Main Street West and Ray Street South.

A vehicle collided with an 86-year-old woman at the intersection and left her lying on the road with life-threatening injuries. A bus driver saw the woman and stopped to provide assistance. The victim was transferred to hospital but died from her injuries on Wednesday, October 2.

The driver who struck the woman fled the scene and has not yet been identified. However, a possible witness has been observed at the intersection just before the incident, and police are trying to reach him.

He is described as a white male, medium build, wearing a grey Ron Jon t-shirt over a long-sleeved black shirt, dark work pants and steel-toed work boots. Police have released a photo of the possible witness:

Thankfully they have a crosswalk going in at Pearl and Main. She would have been crossing there had it been completed in time. :(
