Hamilton Creative Industry Survey

Do you live in Hamilton? Are you engaged in creative work? If you haven't already, please take a few minutes to fill in the Hamilton Creative City Initiative, a survey intended to map the burgeoning creative movement in Hamilton.

The website explains:

Over the next few months, the Initiative will be gathering information, in three stages, through targeted surveys about creative organizations, workers and consumers. The intent is to build a holistic picture of this significant segment of Hamilton’s economy. We will be gathering economic and demographic data about each of these stakeholder groups.

Organized by the Imperial Cotton Centre for the Arts, the Centre for Community Study and the Community Centre for Media Arts, this project is an effort to "draw connections and highlight patterns in the industry as a whole" as a first step toward understanding how best to cultivate Hamilton's creative industry.

Ryan McGreal, the editor of Raise the Hammer, lives in Hamilton with his family and works as a process and service analyst, web application developer, writer, and journal editor. Ryan also works part-time as the coordinator for the Hamilton Transit Users Group (TUG). Ryan writes occasionally for CanadianContent, and (very occasionally) maintains a personal website. A few of his essays have been published in the Hamilton Spectator.

Quote of the Issue

Proponents do not have to rationalize the need for transit or look at alternatives (only alternative construction methods) since the need for transit and the benefits to communities, the environment and the economy are clear." -- From the Government of Ontario's New Transit Environmental Assessment Process
