I urge Council to think about the city's future by supporting keeping the King Street bus lane and allowing staff to make improvements to it.
I am a new transplant to Hamilton. I work fulltime in Toronto (University of Toronto, as a researcher) and purposefully chose to live in Hamilton, moving here from Guelph.
I bought a house, I take public transit (HSR and GO), I pay taxes, I buy goods and services, and am an active volunteer (AGH, PanAm/Para Pan Games).
I know that many other people consider moving to Hamilton and reaping the many benefits the city has to offer, including affordable housing, a vibrant arts and culture scene, and other attributes.
But they expect great public transit options, especially those who relocate here from the GTA.
Let's increase our tax base, attract new residents, and provide great public transit to all our citizens. Drivers benefit from having a great public transit system too. It's a win-win for everyone.
This article is adapted from a letter to Council.
Please add your voice to the Support Hamilton Transit campaign to keep the bus lane.
