Whether you're laughing or choking at Borat's dialogue, some sort of a reaction is coming out of you!

Staring: Borat

I think its fairly obvious from all the hype this film is getting that it can't be ignored (just as it is fairly obvious that you're going to find Borat either "Very Nice" or "Not so much").

Prepare your taste buds and keep looking over your shoulder because whether you're laughing or choking at Borat's dialogue, some sort of a reaction is coming out of you! In fact, some sort of reaction is going to be coming out of the person next to you and the person next to them - and so on and so forth.

So with this being said, the film does live up to the hype. My opinion is that whether you like it or not Borat will reshape censorship regulations and the overall way in which motion pictures will be made from here on out. Method acting re-commences, and this is far beyond Jackass, folks!

It's a clever, yet equally dangerous act of re-examining freedom of speech.

To See or Not To See

Put it this way: if you really want to know the truth behind today's society, "say ahh". It may not necessarily taste pretty, but then again, who ever said that the truth is easy to stomach?

I thought that Borat was over rated, & something like the emporers new clothes. People see what they wish to see in it. (The movie we wanted to see was no longer playing, & we saw Borat by default.)
If you were looking for brilliant political insite, biting satire, & edgy wit, then you probably saw just that.
If you had few expectations, you may have seen a slightly more literate rendering of a Jackass movie. If that's what you were looking for, you probably walked out of the theatre happy.
The best moments in this film for me had no pretentions at all. They were just basic foolishness, without any social commentary.

Quote of the Issue

I just want to register my distaste at this process, that we fight it out in a very difficult way amongst ourselves, all kinds of stress coming up, because how the heck are we going to find the kind of cuts to get down to three percent, and then this money shows up out of the blue." -- Brian McHattie, Ward 1 Councillor, on the sudden discovery of $5.2 million in city budget savings after the budget presentation
