Despite Drought, Green Lawns 'of the Utmost Importance'

From the Suburbia Has Gone Mad files:

Eighty-five counties in North Carolina are experienceing such severe drought that the US Department of Agriculture has declared them disaster areas.

Nevertheless, one homeowners association in Wake Forest, NC has ordered its residents to keep watering those lawns, subject to fines for non-compliance.

While the Board is aware of the inconvenience presented by the heat and water restrictions, we believe that having neatly landscaped lawns of grass is of the utmost importance to our community. [emphasis added]

The mind boggles.
