I'm a little bit confused. (Nothing new there, huh?)

This is an event that invites Hamiltonians to participate in planning the future of our transportation network. So beyond the fact that it takes place during a weekday, why is there a charge?

I understand when a group in the city (such as the Chamber of Commerce) brings in a guest speaker for an evening, there's usually a dinner attached, along with a substantive ticket price for a pair of tickets. Therefore, these events are targeted at a particular audience, income level-wise.

This event is being put on by the City of Hamilton's Public Works Department (in partnership with other groups). So, it's being put on by us. You and me. For Hamiltonians. You and me. So again, why is there a charge? Perhaps the wording of the invite could have been better thought out to make it clear who the target audience actually is. Because, as I say, I'm a little confused.
