I was also at the "fringe" debate and left very disappointed. Frustrated by the lack of of vision and lack of competence of the current council, I want nothing more than to elect someone new. But as each of the candidates gave their views on different issues, I started to cross their names off my list. Candidates who were against LRT; candidates against an airport employment growth district; a candidate who hadn't a clue how to attract young, professionals to the city but thought it might have something to do with MIP; one whose only idea, in a city where 30% of the population votes, is to create facebook-like tool so everyone can vote on every issue.
Is there anyone who can lead this city?
Perhaps I should have known I'd be disappointed when I looked at all the identical candidates - white, males. When will council represent the diversity in this community? When will council represent the people?
