You know, my garbage and recycle trucks come down my street around 630/700am, I must be the first street, but I do cringe when I hear them gun their 500 horsepower diesel powered motors, then slam on the breaks every 25 feet, I always think, how much is recycling off-setting the carbon spent on three massive trucks, garbage, greenshitbins, and blue box trucks motoring up and down the city everyday, with their massive diesel powered motors??

If the recycle trucks had to purchase the NDP's carbon offsets, would the recycle trucks even make economic sense?

Couldn't they just drive along at a constant 3km/hr (a normal walking speed) and the workers walk along side and collect the bins and throw them in as the truck is moving? It would save a lot in carbon exhaust if the trucks didn't always gun it, then slam on the breaks.

Must be a union thing, that the trucks come to a complete stop. Because it makes no sense to drive the way they do. Especially on my street where frontage is around 20'.
