Embracing Our Hero

The woman whose son was abducted from EK has released this emotional statement of gratitude.

The woman whose son was abducted from Earl Kitchener school has contacted me and requested that I publish the following statement of gratitude on her behalf. Entitled "Embracing Our Hero", it follows verbatim.

I have finally had a chance to meet the amazing woman who intervened after my child was abducted from his school playground. It is because of her courageous effort, that my son was returned safely to me.

We hugged tightly. I hugged her for me, for my son, for my family, for the EK parents and for the community, as I know they would ALL love to embrace her and tearfully say, "thank you".

We discovered we are both struggling with the same emotional reaction, particularly the "what ifs", and are both convinced that an angel was present.

I expressed how grateful the community is to her and asked if I could give them a message on her behalf. Very emotionally, she said "please tell them that I have been following the media closely, healing with the community and their messages of love have been deeply felt and appreciated".

An important question was asked at Tuesday's meeting "will the woman who intervened be receiving a citizens award?" She let me know that she was aware of this comment and said she felt extremely touched, but understandably, she does not wish to be identified.

We both agreed, our meeting fulfilled "a large piece of the healing puzzle". We will be friends forever.

Don't let Andrew Dreschel see this.

In all seriousness, wow, what a fantastic and touching piece. So thankful she was there at that moment or the "what-ifs" would be playing out as we speak. Very appreciative that she allowed you to publish this Adrian. Thx

Well done!
but where were the teachers at this school?
they want to limit class sizes to 20:1, but only have one or two staff to supervise 300 +. go figure

I FIRST SENT THIS ANONYMOUS AND GOT THE SPAM MESSAGE--DON'T KNOW WHY. DO YOU? Dresch been writing that column for twenty something years. Usually & greatly I disagree with him. His recent latter day column on McHattie was gratuitous. He did same thing re Dave Christopherson after the election in 2003: what a swell guy that Dave, but who before the election had for the Spec & Dreschel been an expwy opposing dimbo. Dreschel's late August this year column on McHattie and the Red Hill expwy coulda been titled by the Spectator, 'McHattie forced to eat shit.' But on this who's a criminal and who's a victim column [never mind the freedom-hero opportunists who didn't vote]--on this one, the former reporter from Dundas now too-long columnist was right. Yes he was, on the hero thing.
