A cute story with a fast pace which is never boring. Obviously, well written: it is the winner of the 2009 Hamilton fringe playwriting competition. But still, I found myself wondering throughout the play what the relationship was between the two people who meet up in this seedy motel.
Were they married and looking to spark things up? Were they lovers? Colleagues? They could have even been brother and sister, judging by the way they were acting towards each other.
The play was missing a real sexual tension and complicity between the actors. I wasn't convinced that they were there dying to play out their fantasies. Not at all. But I loved the witty lightness of the text and the simple, clear set design. It is a good play - but it could be delicious.
