Hamilton Police are looking for the driver of a white pick-up truck, who may have witnessed a fatal collision with a pedestrian on Sherman Avenue at 5:30 AM this morning.
According to the Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit, the pick-up truck driver was headed northbound on Sherman and "may have swerved to avoid striking a pedestrian."
The pedestrian was then struck and killed by another vehicle also headed north in the west curb lane. The driver of that vehicle remained on the scene.
If you are the pick-up driver or have any information, please contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-546-4755.

Time to make Sherman North, 2-way.

The person in question was in her pyjamas (covered by a coat). She was not out for an early morning jog or workout. I will not say more out of respect for the deceased and her family. Context is necessary in this case and most others actually. For more context check some of my comments regarding my support for bike lanes in this publication. I live in this area. It would be ridiculous to turn Sherman North of Barton into 2-way. There are very few homes beyond Barton and also few commercial enterprises which might also benefit from 2 way conversion. It is primarily Industrial and is better served in it's present form. South of Barton knock your self out, if the multi lane dragway does not do it for you.

Then the poor guy can get hit twice, by cars going in opposite directions.
Seems if one vehicle swerved around him and them got hit by a second then in all likely hood he was not paying attention to traffic or ignoring it completely. One way, two way is totally immaterial. If you refuse to pay attention to traffic when you cross the street you will get hurt and maybe killed.
