Help Matt Jelly Raise the Roof

The third issue of the Sky Dragon Centre's magazine, Mayday Magazine (find it in better coffee shops, small businesses, and libraries city-wide) includes a new initiative to transform Jackson Square into a place worth visiting.

Here's an excerpt from executive editor Matt Jelly's release:

With issue 3, I'm happy to unveil the first phase of a new creative plan for downtown Hamilton, called 'Paint the Town Red'. The first phase of this plan calls for a new revitalized roof and exterior of Jackson Square. I'm holding a public brainstorming session on the Jackson Square rooftop gazebo on Thursday July 14th, at 7 PM, and everyone is invited.

In the magazine, I've outlined a very loose creative framework for a new Jackson Square, and I'd like to call on the community to take these ideas and make them better. The meeting on the 14th will be very informal, and should take the form of a group discussion. From then on, we hope to schedule a creative charette, where we can take our discussions and work on an official plan for the project- but what's needed now is feedback and discourse from as many different voices as possible. Please join us on the 14th on the roof. No refreshments will be served. ;)

Raise the Hammer has suggested some improvements for Jackson Square, and we welcome the opportunity to develop a broader mandate to present to the city.

Best of luck, Matt! We hope to be there on the 14th.
