I just went to a seminar about this last week and it interests me that you ask this question.

It is too large an area to enumerate all the issues here. Time is not the issue although it may be an issue. There are a myriad of other issues that challenge our abilities to recollect accurately. (Think of lineups done immediately after the crime as one example)

Remember My Cousin Vinny. There are three scenes that you may recall. The Magic Grits; The dirty window and the lady with the pop bottle glasses that point out some of these issues quite nicely.

People often believe they saw something quite different than what actually happened. No surprise there.
