My family is originally from Huron County, north of London. For towns and villages like Clinton, Exeter, Brucedale, Kippen and the rural areas inbetween, ambulance response times are in the 30-60 minute range.

And yet, somehow, people there are not dying like flies. The life expectancy is higher than Canada's average. I presume that this is due to a lower level of exposure to big city dangers such as traffic violence and sedentary lifestyles.

The good news is that even in big cities we can re-engineer our streets to reduce both traffic violence and sedentary lifestyles in order to increase the health and longevity of our population.
