Every time I read or hear something that talks about how Ontario cannot afford all this "free stuff" and debt proposed by the NDP, a little piece of my brain explodes

Big government doesn't work. The Liberals increased spending by an avg of 5.3% between 2003-17, yet Ontario's economy only grew by 3.7% in the same period.

In contrast, between 1995-2003, govt spending was reduced to 3.6%/yr and Ontario's economy grew by an avg of 5.7%.

How do free dental care, free drugs and free university make Ontario more productive? But let's assume they do. If this is the case, then why don't employers "invest" in these items? Businesses want to make more money, so if investing in free dental care increases worker productivity, it's a no brainer.

In order to consume, you must first produce. Otherwise, your just going deeper into debt. So, if you want more govt freebies, the focus should be on economic growth. How do you get growth? By encouraging smart, frugal investing. In other words, by allocating limited capital in a way that creates profits. Without profits, Ontario and it's workers will see little in the way of real income gains.

Taxing rich people and handing out freebies does not create more profits. It may seem "fair", or "just", but feelings don't count. Facts count. Please embrace them.
