marketgoer, you are so right. of all the items discussed and shown in renderings during the York Blvd streetscape plan, the staircase is the one that I think must be done. The city needs to partner with Yale and figure out how to make it work. Perhaps have some kid friendly attractions at the top of the stairs - a carousel and a ferris wheel (by the way, I'd love a monster Paris or London style ferris wheel at our West Harbour) along with a full fledged kids playground (where is the closest kids playground to King/James??). Have a great design with gardens and lots of seating all the way up the stairs. Perhaps put an 'in-street' interactive fountain at the base of the stairs. Make it a destination and a place that people want to come to enjoy, people watch, eat, play and cool off in.
