Here is an update to my original post.

It looks as though the new secondary school will be located somewhere within the Pan Am stadium precinct in Ward 3.

According to these two articles in the local mainstream media today, Hamilton city council voted to investigate a request by the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board is looking to partner up in the building of a complex which would include secondary school and a recreation centre with some space for seniors’ activities, somewhere in the area bounded by Lottridge, Barton, King and Gage Streets:

“East end school complex will benefit seniors: Murray” by Samantha Craggs on CBC Hamilton: http://www.cbc.ca/hamilton/news/story/20...

“Rubber stamp meeting at City Hall” by Emma Reilly on thespec.com: http://www.thespec.com/news/local/articl...

A letter from HWDSB Chair Tim Simmons addressed to Mayor Bob Bratina was received by city council last night and referred to city staff for a report by Mar 20/13. The HWDSB needs a decision from city council by Mar 27/13. http://www.hamilton.ca/NR/rdonlyres/7016...

Mr. Simmons’ letter specifically notes that the Pan Am stadium precinct “…includes the lands bounded by Cannon Street to the north, Balsam Avenue North to the east, King Street East to the north, and Melrose Avenue North to the west.”
