Maybe I’ll go stand in the right lane of Longwood tomorrow morning to block traffic for them. It’s the closest I can come to personally providing space on the street for the cyclists that typically try to take space from people on foot on the sidewalk. Since they can’t wait for the municipality to provide bike lanes…
I’m sure you weren’t trying to absolve cyclists of their personal responsibility to obey laws; it’s true that they really SHOULDN’T be on the sidewalk. The fact that there is no bike lane doesn’t change that.
Adding a bike lane only from Longwood to Frid is completely useless, I agree. It seems like a waste to have bike lanes on Aberdeen and part of Longwood that do not connect, and going halfway closer would be even sillier. It won’t encourage any more cyclists who are already willing to either brave this route on the street, or traverse portions of it on the sidewalk.
