  • Location: McMaster Conservation Corridor, aka "McMaster Forest"
  • Address: 1101 Lower Lion's Club Road (just west of Wilson Street junc) (Google Maps)

Join Sebastian Irazusta and Rob Porter to walk the perimeter trail around this urban forest site to see some of the work that is being done on the Smithsonian tree plot and the prairie restoration, as well as do some birding along the way. Wear long pants and hiking boots as the trail can be muddy and overgrown.

Expected bird species we may see include Field Sparrow, Great Crested Flycatcher, Eastern Kingbird, Yellow Warbler, Indigo Bunting, Grey Catbird, Blue-winged Warbler, Scarlet Tanager, and a chance at local rarities known to breed here such as the Black-billed Cuckoo and Clay-colored Sparrow.

This hike will take approximately 1-1/2 hours. Meet at the parking area on the north side of Lower Lions Club road, 100 m west of Wilson St.
